Seoul, Korea (February 9, 2000) Three events are to be held tomorrow to mark the 80th birthday of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and commence the World Culture and Sports Festival 2000.

At the Olympic Gymnasium Center at 10.30 a.m., to a rally of some 16,000 people, Rev. Moon is expected to outline his ideas on Korean unification.

Former Vice President Dan Quayle of the United States and former Prime Minister Edward Heath of the United Kingdom are also scheduled to offer short remarks. Other foreign dignitaries expected to attend include former President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia, former President Stanislav Chouchkevitch of Belarus, and former President James R. Mancham of Seychelles.

In his speech, Rev. Moon is to emphasize that God’s true love offers the only way to bring about true unification between North and South Korea. Attempts by either side to achieve a military victory can only be futile in the long run, he is expected to say.

At 3.00 p.m. in the Sejong Cultural Center, there will be a "Cultural Performance" featuring entertainment from around the world.

In a celebratory banquet at the Lotte Hotel's Crystal Ballroom at 7.00 p.m. Rev. Moon will give the opening address. He will be introduced by former President Kaunda. Former Vice President Quayle will also speak to the gathering. President Gus Dur Wahid of Indonesia will be present.

If you want to attend any of these events please call either Timothy Elder or Robin Marsh.
